After leaving a great job as CEO of ExxonMobil, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has been unceremoniously fired, natually via Twitter, in favor of CIA director Mike Pompeo. The policy implications are vast, since Pompeo is a hawk who opposes detente with North Korea and Iran, two countries with which the United States is currently involved in denuclearization talks. For Tillerson, the big question is, of course, what next? He made arrangements before moving to Washington to be able to return to ExxonMobil. But would they want him back now?
